For my English class I had to read the article, Writing the Memoir: From Truth to Art is found in this link:
http://www.judithbarrington.com/writingthemem.html

The article talks about the differences between a memoir and an autobiography. The article also shows how to write a memoir as opposed to an autobiography. Also the article provides examples of both types of writing. The article states that an autobiography is a story of facts, relating to an entire life time of a person. The autobiography has less emotion and more events. It encompasses a large amount of time and does it in a simple manner. The article also states that a memoir on the other hand, is a story being told in a more personal tone. Memoirs are the times in life that are incredible for a some reason or another. Memoirs exhibit strong emotions and feelings in their style of writing. The differences are very different in their tone and context. They both are about life whether it is specific or life as a whole.

She is showing he rebellious nature by keeping the rabbit. The author is using this to reflect the rebellious nature of the German citizens toward the occupying troops. .

In the excerpt Still Water, the girl’s trunk represent her memories of her life back in Los Angeles. Her trunk contains pictures of her parent’s weddings, her mom’s wedding ring, and various items from her own bedroom. It is implied with the one way ticket that she has left LA behind. The author uses the trunk to explain that the girl left most of her past behind, exept for the few things she put in her trunk.

I can't wait for Christmas break even though it seems so far away. There are two main reasons why I can't wait for it, is because first of all christmas is my favorite holiday. Ever since I was small I always liked waking up on those cool christmas mornings. The second reason for it is that by it being christmas break I'll have finished my exams and I'll finally stop the studying. So no matter what happens christmas break will be the best because of those two things.

KFC and other restaurants like it have been being pressured by people to change their foods because they are being blamed for the increase in obesity across America. The reason for the removal of the trans- fats in its food is because trans-fat is what increases bad cholesterol. This might be a good idea for peoples health but it might taste bad without the fat in it.

In my English class we are writing a paper on dystopias. I am writing mine on the book The Giver. This is my thesis statement: In Lois Lowry's, The Giver; Jonas is brought up in a dystopian society. In this society power is used to control the inhabitants thoughts, emotions and even their lives. The government should not be involved in anyones life to the extent that it limits their freedom.
I could support my thesis by showing examples of how the government controls people such as how the government chooses who they marry based on compatibility.

In my English class, we have to describe how three literary elements are portrayed in a novel, short stories, or poems about utopic and/or dystopic societies. The novel I read is The Giver, by Lois Lowry. The three literary elements that are portrayed in this piece are major character, dynamic character, and crisis.

The literary element major character describes the main character of the book, Jonas. Jonas is the character that the story is about he is a twelve year old boy who gets the job of reciever and has to hold all the memories of the past in his world.
Dynamic character also describes Jonas. Jonas's life changes greatly from the begining of the story after he became the reciever and learn everything about the past both good and evil, because of this Jonas learns to appreciate things like color and music which he could not see or here before. Crisis is also found in The Giver. The crisis in the story is when Jonas finally finds out what it means to be released from his society which was basically to be euthanized.

To find these and other literar elements go to: http://www.orangeusd.k12.ca.us/yorba/literary_elements.htm

I am currently reading the book, The Giver so that I can write a Literary Analysis project on it about a dystopian literature. The Giver is a book about a society that is basically a dystopia, or failed utopia. The bad part of that society is that every one is esentially the same and no one can have any form of sexual pleasure or even see color. The society even goes as far as that those people can not even smell different smells, and there is no such thing as choice in that society. The main character in the book is the only person, who over the length of the book will be able to make choices and feel pain and things that no other person in the story can see or feel. I chose this book because it is the best book that I know that is about a dystopian society.

My major in college is biomedical sciences. I came to this decision because ever since a little kid I have wanted to be a doctor. My major might change though because when I was little I did not realize the amount of studying it would take to become a doctor. My goals have not changed yet but they might because even though I really want to become a doctor; it is just way too much studying, and I enjoy physical work more than mental work. As of right now I do not know if I will continue my path into medicine or deviate from it into something else but no matter what happens I will try my best at whatever I am doing.

The Article I have chosen is "China backs 'some' N. Korea punitive action" and it can be found at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15206884/. The article states that China's UN embassador wants to punish North Korea for saying that it has tested Nuclear Bombs, but on the other hand the U.S. does not even want to talk to North Korea because they are not intimidated by the nuclear threat. Also the U.S. doubts whether or not North Korea has a small nuke that can be launched on a missile that is set to hit the U.S.. The article also states that the United States want the U.N. to freeze North Korea's assets that help them build weapons. The article also says that President Bush should start direct talks with North Korea. Also the article says that although there is a military option President Bush wants to resolve this conflict peacefully. I agree with the Presidents ambitions to resolve this conflict peacefully and think that it is wrong for North Korea to just continue with its nuclear program despite opposition from almost everybody else.

My response to the first article is that it is very informative. It helps those who do not understand what a blog is and what one can do with a blog. It also proves that anyone can have a blog. My reaction to the second article is that while it may be bad to post inapropriate comments about a co-worker or your own job, it should not get you fired. I believe that by firing people just because they talk bad about their boss in their own personal blog, people are limiting other's freedom of speech. On the other hand people should not be bad mouthing their job's in public anyways because as the article states, it "defames the company" so their bosses technically have the right to fire them.

As a child my family moved around many times until they settled down in the place were we live to this day, Hialeah. I used to and still does enjoy playing many sports, such as soccer, basketball, and football. The only sport that I do not currently play anymore is baseball, because I find it to be very uninteresting. Eliseo is a big Dolphins fan and also a fan of the Miami Heat. I like to hang out with my friends, and somtimes even make the four hour trip back home just to play a pick up game or two of football with my friends. I used to live with most of my family including my, mom, dad, brother, aunt, and grandmother.
